Patient Case Study App | Making Clinical Workshops More Interactive

The Challenge

Our client had been running successfulpaper-based workshops to drive discussion around patient management decisionsfor acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. While popular, the sessions were limited in flexibility, scalability, and adaptability for international audiences. The challenge was to make the workshops more engaging, portable, and interactive — without relying on WiFi or complicated setup.

Our Thinking & Solution

Rather than simply digitising the existingcards, we designed a purpose-built “case study generator” that allowed facilitators to create and share unlimited patient cases, keeping each session fresh.

The app guided HCPs through patient scenarios in a realistic, linear way, unlocking new information — such as test results and medical history — over time, mimicking real-world decision-making.

Participants could:

• Select patient avatars and explore key information step-by-step.
• Request virtual tests and review results over multiple “days” of care.
• Record observations and generate summarycards for final group discussion.
• Use the app independently at congresses or in facilitator-led sessions.

The bespoke iPad app supported progressive case disclosure, facilitator-led case generation, offline use and QR-code sharing between devices.

The Impact

The app transformed advisory board workshops into highly interactive, engaging sessions. Facilitators could run multiple cases effortlessly, and delegates were able to work through realistic scenarios at their own pace. HCP engagement improved significantly, and discussions around patient management became more focused and meaningful.
